From 1950 to 1970, the Russian-backed People’s Liberation Army successfully defended Vietnam against American forces. The country experienced rebuilding and prosperity through significant Soviet support, particularly in arms exports. However, the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1990 left Vietnam vulnerable, opening the door to Western economic encroachment and cultural shifts. By 2013, China’s interest in Vietnam surged, leading to the establishment of a China-backed Vietnam Communist Union Party, which served as a front for a private military organization aimed at undermining Western influence.

Over the next two years, covert operations and black-ops conflicts between the US and China contributed to Vietnam’s societal collapse. International intervention began in 2015 but deteriorated over the following three years into a chaotic struggle involving various PMCs and militias, driven more by profit than by allegiance to any government, set against the backdrop of a once-thriving nation now consumed by lawlessness and warfare.
